Although gapped teeth can be attractive and give a person a signature look, some with gaps between their teeth would prefer to have their teeth corrected. Depending on the severity and location of your gapped teeth, you have several options for improving your smile.

Dental Bonding

Bonding is the quickest and easiest way to correct gapped teeth and involves applying a resin material that matches the color of your teeth. There is no need to remove tooth enamel to apply dental bonding material, and the procedure can typically be completed in just one office visit. Although dental bonding is an ideal choice for many people, it is not quite as durable as a porcelain veneer.

Porcelain Veneers

Applying veneers is more involved than applying dental bonding, but is still a relatively simple procedure. Veneers are made of thin pieces of porcelain that are the color and shape of your teeth and are less likely to stain than dental bonding material. They are also very durable and will last for many years, but it is necessary to remove some tooth enamel prior to the procedure.

Orthodontics

In the case of severely gapped teeth, your dentist may refer you to an orthodontist. Because moving only your front two teeth will cause more gaps elsewhere, we may recommend braces or aligners. Although orthodontics may be a lengthy treatment, it is sometimes necessary in order to properly close the gaps.

Dental Implants

The option providing the most natural-looking teeth is dental implants, which are made of titanium and are affixed to your jawbone. Then, a crown is attached to an abutment on the implant. However, dental implants won’t work for all gapped teeth and unhealthy gums affect their longevity.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a great option when there are large gaps between your teeth. The procedure involves placing a crown on your tooth next to the gap and anchoring a bridge to the crown. Dental bridges are typically more affordable than dental implants. If you have concerns about gaps in your teeth, we would love to recommend ways to give you the smile you want.
